This will be the backdrop for my film poster, however this is not how it will eventually look. I intend to make the sky a more intense colour, perhaps with an orange or reddish hue to give the scene an apocalyptic look. This image is not entirely perfect which is why I would rather reshoot for the final poster, i would like to shoot at a lower ISO to reduce grain/noise which makes the image less than ideal.

This is my studio portrait for the film poster brief. I have shot Mark my classmate from HND1C dressed as a Pagan priest, or Druid. i lit the shot so that it was sympathetic with the lighting conditions on my background shot. The main light illuminates the left hand side of my subject, with the light being at almost 45 degrees to light the face. an additional light was used to fill in any unwanted shadows on the right of the subject. I am pleased with the results of the studio shoot & this image captures the mood & look I required exactly.

Going along with the robes look, although without a Christian theme.

This is an image that I’d like to emulate as far as the model subject goes, using the robes to portray a type of atmosphere.

My mock up poster without my model.
This will be pretty close to what I’m trying to achieve in my finished poster.

Film Poster.

My Idea for my film poster is a horror/ mystery type of theme. My background will be a graveyard scene. This will eventually be altered in Photoshop to give the desired atmosphere to fit the theme. I will not be using an actual film title, but a fictional one. As it is coming up on the ancient Celtic feast of Samhain (Halloween) my poster will have that kind of feel. The fictional name for my film is The Druid’s Curse, which in actual fact is a book. I will be borrowing a set of Druid’s robes from my friend, who is a Ban Druidh or Celtic Priest, this should give my model an authentic look. I will also attempt to shoot my subject with a colour cast on his face to add eeriness & mystery. I have done a mock up of the background already with text.

My self portrait.

This is my final image for my self portraiture unit. I shot the image in an urban setting, using a rock theme with a guitar & rock paraphenalia as props. I feel that although a strong image it could be improved by recomposing the shot to make it look as if I am not turning my back on my musical life, also having me in the left side of frame means that the viewer is left in a kind of limbo as to where I, the subject is looking. I will also use less post production.

Test shots

These are 2 shots that I have chosen for my test shots these images reflect my love of Punk & Heavy metal music & the urban area I grew up in. I have given these images a sort of music press feel giving the shots a touch of mood.

Research Image 2

This image appeals to me because of the use of the negative effect & the breaking up of the image into multiple parts which could portray the complexities of the human psyche. It is ia montage of abstracts rearranged in a random order. The image was shot close up, cropping in on the subject’s face, it was further enhanced aesthetically by using the invert filter in Photoshop.
